BEGINNING OF NEW GENERATION!

Wow! Its already the last blog for my high school life. I can’t imagine how I reached the finish line. Well, almost. There are still plenty of work to do, but, I know I’ll miss it.

It seems like yesterday when I first entered high school. Now, we are only waiting a few days then leave the place where we shared plenty of memories, good and bad. There are plenty of thing I've learned for my almost 4 years as a high school student. But, the first thing that a person must remember is that “Never ever give up and never say you can’t. Have faith and convictions. It’s all in your hands. Just keep on fighting. Even if life will knock you down, stand up and keep your head held up high.” Tears might fell from your eyes, but it will help you get better. There might be criticisms around you, but you will learn how to be a strong person.

Have faith in God and be brave enough to face the challenges. Don’t say no because these challenges are the thrills in life and lessons that you will thank in the future. It might be hard, but you will learn from these.

My Dream, My Future

As the stars are shining brightly on the darkest hours of the night, I’m there staring at the beautiful sky. Thinking about my future. Will I be happy? Will I be successful in my life to come? Will I enjoy the latter part of my life? All these are running through my mind. Questions that need an immediate answer.

Time flies so fast, while we are still young, we have to do our best in order to be successful in life. We have to make wise decisions so that we will not regret on anything in the near future.

Every one of us has his/her own dreams in life. Well it’s not bad to dream even as high as the clouds up in the sky but we all need to put our dreams into action. Striving hard is one of the things that we should do in order to achieve our goals in life.

We must always remember that we are the bosses of our own selves; if we want to succeed we must do something for it. We are only the ones that can manipulate and control ourselves. Actions and right decisions are the key to a productive future.

CHANGE STARTS WITH ME

My life has been full of people who have treated me poorly. I’ve had bosses who expected too much and took advantage of my time and assumed I would work long hours beyond my pay. I've had friends who waltzed into my world, wrecked havoc, and then disappeared.

In fact, at certain times it has seemed like people did this to me on purpose — like I was some kind of target for those just waiting to inflict more hurt.
And in a way, I was.

The first time I heard someone say the words, “We teach people how to treat us,” I didn't want to believe it was true. If it was,Then much of the pain I had suffered over time was my fault as well as the fault of those who had inflicted it. That reality seemed painful and unfair. But at the same time, I felt the tiniest glimmer of hope at the sound of these words.

Because if they were true, if I could really teach people how to treat me, then there was hope of a world where people would treat me with the respect and care I deserved. So I decided to give it a try.

KANNAWIDAN

Ilocos Sur, our very own province has rich and stunning cultures and traditions that we Ilocanos must be proud of. In order to showcase these, we have important festives just to exhibit and promote products of ours and precious cultures of Ilocanos to attract and invite tourists to come and visit Ilocos.

One of these is the Kannawidan Ylocos Festival which is a week-long festive of happiness for local and foreign tourists as more entertaining events are included in the celebration. Now on its 5th year, the Kannawidan Ylocos Festival had already established its identity as the prime festival of the province. The festival was launched in 2008 under the leadership of then Governor Deogracias Victor B. Savellano to commemorate the 190th foundation day of Ilocos Sur as separate province through the approval of a Spanish Royal Decree on February 2, 1818. The province has a rich heritage and unique cultures that need to be preserved for the next generations. However, many of these traditions, songs, dances and other Ilocano cultures were not already familiar to the younger generations due to the influence of the television, computer and internet.

Highlights include the members of the Bayanihan Dance Company entertained the Ilocanos with their world class performance of the Beauty of the Philippines through dances, music and sounds. Their graceful movements and excellent rendition of songs and playing the indigenous musical instruments drew attractions from the crowd.

Governor Luis Chait Singson and Vice Governor Savellano together with  the officials of the Department of Education Division of Ilocos Sur signified the start of the different contests for elementary and high school students. These include traditional tribal rituals, choir and glee club competition, marching band contest, traditional music ensemble, dance drama, traditional and folk dances, contemporary dance competition and street dancing showdown. These events aimed to encourage young Ilocanos to learn these indigenous songs and dances for sustainability and preservation.

Another important event is the Partuat ken Patanor Trade and Agri Fair. Officials from the trade and agri fair displayed all products from the different towns of the Ilocos Sur and its nearby provinces. The annual “Pinaka Contest” was also held to give citations the local farmers’ extraordinary farm and fishery products and livestock.

This Kannawidan Ylocos Festival aims to create awareness on the preservation of the province' rich cultural heritage, practices and traditions, and a showcase of the different agriculture and industry products. We, Ilocanos should all be proud of with this because we are having this for tourists to appreciate our rich culture. Moreover, let us all preserve these cultures for next generations and this will serve as our trademark as an Ilocano.

New Year, New Me!!!

Another year has passed. Let us thanks God that He gave us another year to live. Another year to make happy memories with the people who are always beside you, in good times or in bad times. Another year for us to gain good things, and to make new friends. Another year to do good things to everybody. Another year to live our life to the fullest and to enjoy it with our loved ones.

New Year, new life? I don’t think so, well it’s for me. Is it necessary to have new life for this New Year? Will it be easy? Will it change anything if I change? Do I really need to have new me? It’s bothering me, really.

2015. I started this year happily and hopefully. I am very happy that I have another year to be with my family and friends. As life goes on, everything is changing. Maybe this year you’ll meet the unusual me but I am not NEW. It’s just some of my attitudes will be changed, for the better or maybe for the best. For this year, bad attitudes will be changed, and turn to good ones. But not all will be totally changed. For my school habits, study habits and also my eating habits, I will pursue to change these. I will be more studious and I will lessen the amount of food I’m eating. I will reduce my WEIGHT.

Excited for the new MAEJEN?  Well, it’s not a new me, it’s just a better me. Things that need to change will be changed, for the better. New Year, better me. Observe and know all changes in me.

Essence of Christmas

Christmas is the Christian festival celebrating the birth of Christ, falling on December 25th of every year. Many of us are such very exited when it comes of the coming of Christmas. It is the time of decorating Christmas trees, hanging of Christmas lanterns and caroling. The time of giving and receiving of gifts.  But what is the true essence of Christmas? Is it just for giving of gifts?

Christmas is so exciting. It is the time that many of us are waiting for, for this is the time to celebrate the birth of our one and only savior Jesus Christ. As a tradition of us Filipinos, we prefer to decorate Christmas trees and hang some Christmas lanterns. many of children are along the streets busy caroling. Christmas is also the time of giving gifts but the real essence of Christmas is Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ is love. Love is very important. It is a very valuable thing that every one of us has. Sharing and showing of love to one another is the essence of Christmas. Love will take you to reality, joy or happiness, and peace. When you share you love to one another, it only means that you also love Jesus and sharing of love is the very best thing that we can offer to Him.

Christmas is not just for giving of gifts but sharing of love. the true essence of Christmas is love so, let us all give love on Christmas day.

Climate Change

Cold blizzards, heavy storms, strong hurricanes, warm volcanic eruptions, hot drought are these connected to climate change?

I guess these days the word “climate change” is a trending topic in our English subject. We talk about the weather and the atmosphere and how it changes eventually etc.

Climate change affect us, there are many factors that will be affected by climate change including the rising of sea levels, loss of agricultural land and drought. If we do not do something, there will be more affect by climate change. We must be more responsible in disposing our waste materials.

Do everything to stop the effects of climate change. We must unite and be more responsible for Mother Earth. We must love our planet as we love ourselves.
